A note from France: Thailand is the first country I visited, my first out-of-country trip back when I lived in the Philippines. That was 2 decades ago and I haven't been back since. That visit, although short, left a mark in me- I remember being in awe of the beautiful, handcrafted products and art I saw as my mom and I explored markets, exhibits, and studios. Fast forward to 20 years later, I now proudly carry pieces from Thailand, made by communities of weavers and artisans, all making handcrafted pieces that preserve their heritage and traditions.

These handwoven coasters are sourced from Seak, an MIT-based startup bringing Southeast Asian artisans to the global stage. I met one of their founders, Gabby, a fellow Filipino in the US when she stumbled upon my brand online. Together with Nicha, her Thai friend based in Thailand, they founded Seak with the aim to amplify the work of Southeast Asian makers starting from Thailand and with the goal of working with makers in the Philippines too. Their values resonate completely with mine and they proudly work with women-owned brands who make environmentally friendly, handcrafted products in small batches.

The Bai po (jute) Coaster was made by one of their partner brands- Maison Craft. Handcrafted in East Thailand by a community of local craftsmen with generations old techniques, these coasters are all sustainably made. With a lifetime of up to 5 years, these will completely decompose in the landfill.
