  • A note from France: Umuwi (u.mu.wî) - A Filipino word that means to return home, to go home. Umuwi is a word that represents many significant moments in my 30s. I went back home to the Philippines, got married, and stayed for almost 2 years before coming back home to San Diego. Almost 3 years after I got married, I finally really could say I was home because my husband and our dog finally moved to San Diego permanently. A decade of long distance with them both finally came to an end. At 34, I could finally say I'm home.
