Suzugami
A note from France: Japanese artistry and their respect for their artisans and the traditions they practice have always fascinated me. When I stumbled upon Suzugami (or "tin paper") by Syoruyu from Takaoka, Japan, I knew I had to add them to Lu France Interiors' curated pieces. Syoruyu has been known for manufacturing Orin Bowls (or singing bowls) for Buddhist temples since 1909. There are only 10 orin artisans in Japan and 3 of them are in the Syoruyu workshop. These beautiful Suzugami tablewares are their workshop's signature products.

Handmade by skilled craftsmen in Japan using hammering techniques, use your Suzugami as a plate for food, as trays, catch-alls, etc. Bend, fold, and shape them in any form you want. Made of 100% tin.

Handmade in Japan.
Approximately 5.1 in x 5.1 in
Please take note that tin changes its color over time. Your suzugami may change in color to a yellow or black hue but would still be safe to use. To care for your Suzugami, you may wipe clean with a dry cloth or if used for food- handwash using a soft cloth or sponge and mild detergent. You may also polish it with commercially available, food safe polish, toothpaste, or baking soda to regain its shine.
--
Tin's melting point is relatively low, do not put over heat. Do not use in the microwave, freezer, or dishwasher. Suzugami is easily cut with commercially available scissors, please make sure to smoothen and round the cut surface to avoid injuries.
--
Suzugami is resilient and flexible enough but excessive bending and stretching like folding it to one direction and then to another direction repeatedly may cause fatigue and cracks.
